PanARMENIAN.Net - The Greeks share the historical experience of persecution and tragedies with the friendly Armenian people, Greek National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said in a message on the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
He noted that recognition of historical truth is a necessary condition to ensure that crimes against humanity are never repeated.
"Today we pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, one of the most horrific crimes against humanity of the 20th century. For Greeks, who share the historical experience of persecution and tragedies with their friendly people, commemorative events are not merely an anniversary. They are a constant reminder that humanity's recognition of historical truth is a necessary condition for crimes against humanity never to be repeated. Never again," the post says.
Greece recognized the Armenian Genocide in 1999.
