Cloud cover across Bulgaria on Friday, April 17 will be variable, with more breaks expected in some areas, but generally thicker clouds dominating over Southern Bulgaria. In the southwestern parts of the country, short-lived rain showers are likely during the day. Toward the evening, conditions will begin to deteriorate more noticeably, as cloudiness spreads from the northwest and precipitation gradually sets in. Winds will remain light to moderate, coming from the east-northeast. Minimum temperatures will range between 4C and 9C, while daytime highs are expected to reach between 17C and 22C, with cooler conditions along the Black Sea coast. In Sofia, temperatures will be around 9C in the morning and about 20C during the day.
In the mountainous regions, skies will be partly cloudy but often more overcast, particularly across the Rila and Rhodope massifs. Rain showers are expected in places, while on the highest peaks precipitation may fall as a mix of rain and snow. Winds will be light to moderate from the northeast. Temperatures will reach around 12C at 1,200 meters and about 5C at 2,000 meters.
Along the Black Sea coast, cloudiness will increase during the afternoon hours, ranging from partial to more significant coverage. A moderate wind from the northeast will persist, keeping daytime temperatures lower, between 13C and 16C. Sea water temperatures will be around 11C to 12C, with wave activity reaching about 3 on the Beaufort scale.
Across the wider Balkan region, weather conditions will vary. Western and northern areas of the peninsula will see more persistent cloud cover and precipitation, while Romania may experience thunderstorms. In contrast, southeastern parts of the Balkans will enjoy longer periods of sunshine. Along the western coastline of the peninsula, temperatures are expected to rise slightly.
