PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey has made significant efforts to achieve peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, ranging "from calibrated use of force to effective diplomacy," said Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

He noted that Turkey has borders in the Caucasus region, and instability or conflict there directly affects the country, Factor.am reports.

"Therefore, we are making very serious efforts to ensure order and security there, including in the security architecture. We have made tremendous efforts to achieve peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, balancing everything from measured use of force to quality diplomacy, while keeping regional countries and global powers in equilibrium so that the conflict does not affect Turkey," Fidan said.

He emphasized that Ankara has a broad strategic footprint across the Middle East, the Caucasus, the Black Sea, and the Mediterranean, as well as in European security.

According to him, European security has historically been shaped under the umbrella of NATO, with Turkey playing a role in that framework.

On August 8, during a trilateral meeting at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, a joint declaration was signed summarizing the results of the talks.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the three leaders, initialed an agreement on peace and the establishment of interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
