Sunny and Hot Weather Continues in Bulgaria as Temperatures Reach 34C

Bulgaria is set for another warm and mostly sunny day on Wednesday, May 27, with temperatures climbing as high as 34C in some parts of the country.

According to the forecast, skies will remain largely clear through the morning, while cumulus and thunderclouds are expected to develop during the afternoon. Isolated showers and thunderstorms may occur in Western, Southwestern, and Eastern Bulgaria later in the day.

Temperatures in the country's largest cities are expected to reach:

  • Sofia ? 29C
  • Plovdiv ? 31C
  • Varna ? 27C
  • Burgas ? 28C

Mountain regions will also see mostly sunny weather before afternoon rain and thunderstorms develop, mainly over the Rila Mountains, Rhodope Mountains, and Balkan Mountains.

Along the Black Sea coast, conditions will remain mostly sunny with temperatures between 25C and 28C. Brief thunderstorms are possible mainly along the northern coastline.

Forecasters warn that cooler air will arrive on Thursday, bringing temperatures down by 5?6 degrees. Short but intense thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and possible hail are expected, especially across Central and Eastern Bulgaria and in mountainous areas.

Warmer and sunnier weather is forecast to return over the weekend, although isolated thunderstorms and hail remain possible in the mountains and northeastern parts of the country.
