PanARMENIAN.Net - Canada's Foreign Ministry has urged its citizens to avoid entering Iran amid ongoing nationwide protests, regional tensions, a high risk of arbitrary detention, and the inconsistent application of local laws.
At the same time, Canadian citizens currently in Iran are being strongly advised to immediately leave the country using land borders with Armenia or Turkey, reports 1lurer.am .
"Canadian passport holders do not need a visa to enter Turkey. However, they must obtain a visa upon arrival in Armenia," the Foreign Ministry reminded.
The ministry also emphasized that consular services in Iran are severely limited.
According to Reuters, citing an Iranian official, nearly 2,000 people have been killed during the protests in Iran. The official attributed the deaths of both protesters and security personnel to individuals he described as terrorists but did not specify how many of the victims were civilians or members of the security forces.
