England on brink of World Cup qualification after Serbia's slip-up

LONDON, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- England is just one victory away from securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico after Serbia fell 1-0 to Albania on Saturday.

Thomas Tuchel's side can secure qualification with a win over Latvia on Tuesday - still with two matches left to play.

The Three Lions have maintained a perfect record so far, winning all five of their Group K fixtures without conceding a single goal.

England has not missed a major international tournament since 2008, when it failed to qualify for the UEFA European Championship under Steve McClaren.
