Urgent: Strong tremor hits eastern Greece, felt across Athens

ATHENS, Sept. 9 (Xunhua) -- A strong earthquake struck eastern Greece shortly before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday local time and was felt across Athens.

According to initial data from the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter was in Nea Styra, Evia, a town on the southern coast of Evia island, about 80-90 km northeast of Athens.
