The record isn't what we want it to be but at least the Texans are coming off a big win heading into Turkey Day and have a three-game home stand starting with the Jets on Sunday.

Speaking of turkey, no offense to the traditional entree but wouldn't it be a great Texas move to serve brisket on Thanksgiving instead of the big bird? I'd really look forward to that.

Editior's Note - Vandermeer, no one cares about your takes on food. Although, I'd love to have brisket on Thanksgiving too. Carry on.

The Jets come into town with two wins as well, and they're good ones - against the Bengals and the Titans, with Derrick Henry. Their victory over Cincinnati was right after the Bengals went wild in Baltimore with a 41-16 triumph. The point is that this can be a dangerous team.

It's nice to see the Texans do something well that they've been preaching since prior to OTAs - take the ball away. The very first workout I witnessed in May featured some kind of Lovie Smith ball extraction drill.

Houston is tied for 4th in the NFL in forced turnovers. They're getting so many lately, I have to come up with some new calls on the radio to commemorate them.

The Texans also wanted to run the ball well this year and that hasn't happened the way they drew it up. Every game has a few pops here and there but they haven't caught fire in this department since opening day.

Tyrod Taylor gave the squad a big lift with two rushing touchdowns at Tennessee. The mere threat of him running helps the offense and it'll be good to see him perform in perfect conditions at NRG Stadium for the first time since Week 1. He was much more in rhythm in the last game as opposed to his first outing back, despite the soaking conditions in Nashville.

Houston faces highly-touted rookie Zach Wilson and it's also Salute to Service Day. My unofficial data shows me that this is the fans' favorite theme day of them all.

Yes, we'd like to see a larger number in the W column of the standings but we've got three games in a row coming up at NRG and there are storylines aplenty to sink our collective teeth into and enjoy Gameday.

Have a great Thanksgiving Day, however, you spend it. Whether it's with friends, family or just watching an NFL triple-header on TV.

And don't get me started that the Thanksgiving games 'aren't that good.' Let these babies play out tomorrow. I predict at least two go down the wire and provide some compelling drama while you digest your dinner.

The Texan will host the Jets on Sunday at NRG Stadium on CBS and SportsRadio 610.Kickoff is set for noon CT. Click here for tickets.
