Turkey reports 22,291 daily COVID-19 cases

ANKARA, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Turkey on Wednesday registered 22,291 new COVID-19 cases, raising its tally of infections to 5,660,469, according to its health ministry.

The death toll from the virus in Turkey rose by 76 to 51,124, while 4,197 more people recovered in the last 24 hours.

A total of 257,474 tests were conducted over the past day, it said.

Turkey has started the mass vaccination against COVID-19 on Jan. 14 after the authorities approved the emergency use of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine.

More than 40.18 million people have received their first doses of the vaccine, while over 25.15 million have taken two doses. Turkey has so far administered over 69.75 million doses including third booster jabs.
