BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

ANKARA -- Turkey on Tuesday registered 19,761 new COVID-19 cases, raising its tally of infections to 5,638,178, according to its health ministry.

The death toll from the virus in Turkey rose by 51 to 51,048, while 7,108 more people recovered in the last 24 hours.

HAVANA -- Cuba reported on Tuesday 7,903 new COVID-19 infections and 75 more deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 349,055 cases and 2,492 deaths, according to the Ministry of Public Health's daily report.

These indicators are the results of the impact of the new variants of coronavirus circulating in the country, the ministry's national director of hygiene and epidemiology Francisco Duran said.

JERUSALEM -- Israel's Ministry of Health reported 1,911 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the tally of infections in the country to 864,470.

The death toll from the virus in Israel remained unchanged at 6,461, while the number of patients in serious condition rose from 121 to 145.

BAGHDAD -- Iraq reported on Tuesday 12,185 new COVID-19 cases, the highest daily count since the outbreak of the pandemic, raising the nationwide caseload to 1,577,013.

A statement by the health ministry also confirmed 71 more deaths, bringing the death toll from the virus to 18,418, while the total recoveries in Iraq climbed by 8,547 to 1,429,542.

RABAT -- Morocco on Tuesday reported 6,971 new COVID-19 cases, the biggest single-day increase so far, taking the number of infections in the country to 588,448.

The total number of recoveries from COVID-19 in Morocco increased to 549,116 after 2,690 new ones were added, the ministry of health said in a statement.

LONDON -- Britain has reported another 23,511 coronavirus cases in the latest 24-hour period, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 5,745,526, according to official figures released Tuesday.

The number of new cases in the country has continued to fall for a seventh day.
